My entry for Environaut's terragen contest:

Cool terrain, not sure if this is my final attempt, but we'll see what I can come up with.
Hope you all like it, especially you Environaut ;)

wonderful - I love the thought of looking down on such a vast and detailed landscape, and the contrast between the shadow and the sunshine gives it a really nice balance, as well as that kind of bottomless feeling that you get when you look down like that.

:wow: :shakefist: :w00t:

Very extreme lighting and tilt, but absolutely amazing detail. Sandy beaches, fluffy grass... I'd lighten it up just a touch and name it "Canyon Oasis"...

I'll just slip this in here... :deviation: I'm sorry you didn't win with this. It really was dramatic and compelling! Poor Mike must have had a hell of a time deciding... but you have my congratulations and envy for making it out at 4th!

One of the most original TG's i've seen :D How big is the terrain?

terrain size is 2049^2. That's pretty much the only terrain size I use. Smaller looks crappy, bigger kills my computer. Rendersize was 4000x3000

I've heard you can get up to 8000^2; that's fairly impressive. I tend to use 1024, it usually doesn't take too long but you can get fairly good results from it. Works best for me though, others have their own preferences.

cool view the grass is a lil unrealistic. Maybe like 2 layers or a real dirty green.
but awesome terrain

Grass is about 10 layers. it's hard to get much detail at 9000 meters up

 NICE POV!! I'm practically getting vertigo just looking down the valley from here. lol I think those black mountains are essential for the scale effect too. Wonderful surfaces and I love the strong lighting too. Well done, Sacha! :D :+fav:
